woods of southwest Maine to New York City to kick
off a blitz publicity tour: scheduled are two days
each in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago and a
day in Milwaukee (where he has to conduct per-
sonal business but will fit in some press appear-
ances at the publisher's behest).
He's squeezed this newspaper interview in be-
tween a book-signing session at Brentano's and a
radio spot. He has the look of a man on the run.
